Kurt, The Action Hero
Hawn’s career quickly exploded, but Russell’s took a little bit longer to develop. He had small TV and movie roles until he had a lucky break – he was nominated for an Emmy for TV movie Elvis, where he played the title role. Afterwards, his career took off when he played Snake Plissken in action film Escape From New York, and reprised the role in sequel Escape From Los Angeles.
Walt Disney Knew
Mysterious… Apparently, before Walt Disney’s death in 1966, his last written words were “Kurt Russell.” No one’s really sure why, but Russell did act for Walt Disney Studios during his youth. He had a long term contract with Disney to appear in its films – and perhaps Walt Disney himself could see Russell’s potential?
