They Weren’t Always Called The Spice Girls

This popular English, pop group was formed in 1994, however, when the gals first got together they were not called Spice Girls. Instead, they were called Touch, but due to the change in management the group’s name was changed. Apparently, their new name was chosen from a song that was written for them  called “Sugar and Spice.”

Godparents To Geri’s Daughter

In May 2006, Geri Halliwell gave birth to her first child, a daughter named Bluebell Madonna. When Ginger Spice’s baby was 11 months old, she held a star-studded christening event for little Bluebell. Geri had asked her old Spice Girl pals, Victoria Beckham and Emma Bunton to be her baby’s godparents. Of course, they were both excited as it was a huge honor.

The Girls’ Didn’t Pick Their Own Nicknames

Most people around the world know these famous girls by their nicknames and not by their actual names. But how exactly did each of them end up with the name they did? According to Mel B, “it was actually a journalist from Top of the Pops magazine to thank for coming up with our nicknames”.  Apparently, the journalist couldn’t remember all the girl’s names for a feature story so she gave them a title according to their personality. Victoria became Posh Spice, Melanie Brown was nicknamed Scary Spice, Melanie. C was called Sporty Spice, Emma Bunton became Baby Spice and Geri Halliwell instantly was called Ginger Spice…and the rest is history.

The dress made many headlines all around the world and has become synonymous with the Spice Girls, but more specifically with Geri Halliwell.
