Kirk Douglas
Legendary actor, Kirk Douglas, passed away at the age of 103. “It is with tremendous sadness that my brothers and I announce that Kirk Douglas left us today at the age of 103,” Michael wrote on Instagram. “To the world he was a legend, an actor from the golden age of movies who lived well into his golden years, a humanitarian whose commitment to justice and the causes he believed in set a standard for all of us to aspire to.”
John Singleton
Known for directing 1991’s Boyz n the Hood, at the age of 24, the becoming director was the first African American and youngest person to ever have been nominated for the Academy Award for Best Director. Singleton would also direct 2 Fast 2 Furious, Shaft, Higher Learning, Poetic Justice, and 1997’s drama, Rosewood. In April 2019, Singleton passed after being taken off life support, following stroke days prior.
