At long last, they have finally arrived at the moment of truth. They would either confirm their suspicions or experience relief. With a creak, the front door opened. They found the daughter and granddaughter of the woman on the phone, who appeared surprised to find kindhearted and well-intending young people at their doorsteps. The older woman ushered the three inside the house and took them to meet the matriarch of the family, the original owner of the couch that was now sitting in their New York apartment. After they introduced themselves and presented her the wads of bills, the woman burst into tears! Soo enough, she told the trio the backstory behind the money in the couch.
